The Club Hotel

The Club Hotel is situated on Kangaroo Island, in an unusual, grassy opening between densely packed trees. The hotel is made up of 4 ‘houses’ and a lobby building. Each house contains 30 rooms over 3 floors. They are simply stacked blocks for efficiency, and built using modular construction.

In massing, the blocks sit perpendicular from each other, alternating between sea views and lagoon views. This alternation prevents overlooking from one balcony to another, and adds difference and character to the facades.

Double height public space occupies the ground floor of each block, connecting all the core facilities, and providing a connection to the gardens. The blocks step down with the landscape meaning that mezzanines are utilised to link the public spaces and provide a platform to observe from.

On the outside, bespoke stair-cores define the façade, and act like markers for a twisting buggy route that weaves in-and-out of the buildings, dropping guests off at the core of each house.

Practice

Parti is an architectural studio based in London; our work combines architecture, furniture and landscape. We are thoughtful and creative; Parti design with consideration to atmospheres and the experience of moving through spaces. We believe in architecture that makes you feel something.

The practice is defined by an explorative, research-based approach that responds to the specifics of each project. Buildings are crafted by refining designs through physical models, prototyping and material experimentation. Parti think and act seriously with regards to environmental sustainability - such that materials are interrogated, as well as their processes and where they come from.

As a result, Parti create beautiful, well-crafted, inventive buildings that positively impact society and the built environment. We seek to create architecture that speaks to people - bringing joy, intrigue and character into peoples lives and streetscapes.

Our recent and current work includes; 15 houses in a disused limestone quarry; a new educational building for a North London Academy; a restaurant on the Thames; an art gallery in London; furniture; and a number of private homes.
